Before embarking on this remarkable journey, Subhanshu Shukla left behind not just Earth but also a tender, emotional message for his wife, Kamna. In his letter, he wrote, “We’ll be leaving in the early hours of June 25. Kamna… thank you for being the anchor of my world. Childhood Friends, Lifelong Bond: The Story of Kamna and Subhanshu

Subhanshu Shukla and Kamna first became friends in the quiet classrooms of a primary school in Lucknow. “Since third grade, we have been close,” Kamna thinks fondly. He was the most timid student in the class, and I used to call him Gunjan.

Their friendship evolved into partnership, marriage, and now, a shared chapter in India’s space legacy. Today, they are proud parents of a six-year-old son, and Kamna’s quiet strength has become an unseen force propelling Subhanshu Shukla through his celestial path.

Under Subhanshu Shukla’s watch as pilot, the mission represents not just national pride but international unity.

The journey wasn’t without turbulence. Earlier launches were postponed due to a Falcon 9 oxygen leak and a technical fault in the ISS’s Zvezda module. But perseverance prevailed, and with support from NASA and Roscosmos, the mission finally ignited into the sky on June 25.
